When he left the writing chores of the X-Men in the early 1990s, Chris Claremont had his mutant heroes living in the Australian outback. A decade later, when Claremont returned to Marvel to write X-Men again, he also returned his cast to Australia. And it’s here that we find the “X-treme” team, consisting of Storm, Bishop, Rogue, Beast, Thunderbird, Psylocke and the mysterious Sage.
The X-treme team operates separately from the main team with a single goal: to locate the remaining volumes of the diaries of Destiny, the late mutant who had the power to see the future, and who wrote most of what she saw in her diaries. In the wrong hands, these visions could prove disastrous for the world, thus the X-Men must locate them all before that happens. Readers who loved Claremont’s original run on the X-Men will find the master still possesses all his old narrative powers.
