The blonde, all-American girl Betty Cooper got the jump on rival Veronica Lodge, appearing with Archie right from the beginning in Pep #22. When Archie relaunched their comic lines almost fifty years later, it was Veronica who went first, getting her solo series in 1989. This new Betty title didn’t start until 1992.
